The wave of the future from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Even though I had a lot of work to do yesterday, solving the microwave problem was a priority. I downloaded the Jiffy app (a place to find service people) in the hopes that I could perhaps get the microwave fixed. I researched and found out that three different pieces can cause the microwave to stop heating. I found a service person, and they got back to me very quickly through the app.

He STRONGLY suggested that it would cost me almost as much to have the microwave repaired as it would be to buy a new one. Not only was ...

A first world problem from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

There are a lot of issues in the world. The biggest one right now is that the ENTIRE world is working its way through the pandemic. A lot of people are struggling with the stay-at-home order. It's a major inconvenience, to be sure, but it's not a hardship. I am extremely fortunate to live in a country where we have a pretty darn high standard of living and freedoms. Many of us have not lived through any kind of hardship. I wonder how society would cope if we actually suffered a major hardship?

I'm going to have ...

The best quilting tip EVER from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Happy Birthday, M!!!!  It's hard to believe that my little kiddo is 25 today!!! I have to say that I'm quite proud of her. She's fiercely independent, although she's still just a kid - at least to me. She'll always be a kid! That way, I never age!

She was born around 2:30 AM, and it's bizarre because I woke up at 2:30 last night. I NEVER do that. Perhaps I was reliving the moment 25 years ago. Have a great day today!!!! Love you lots!!!

Yesterday was our Virtual Retreat, and oh ...

I am NOT a runner from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Although it seems that each day in my world is a marathon, I am NOT a runner. The kind that goes outside or on the treadmill and runs. Nope - not happening at my house. And yet - when I have to, I will, but good grief - it's hard work.

All my presentations went off without a hitch. I even got two small ones prepped as sidebars for the main presentations. The pictures were all done, so it was a snap to load the photos and sort them. A good thing I prepped them because I used both of them.

Some ...

A needle in the haystack from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

So one of the things I love about audiobooks is that when you read a really good one, you don't really care what you do, as long as you're doing something when you listen. That's my case! I had a couple of Zoom calls and the audiobook, and well, I got stuff done that I would have put aside for another day. The book I'm reading is called Anxious People by Fredrik Backman. I LOVE his books. I've got ONE hour to finish reading, and the book will go back today. Yes - I'm a ...

It's all about PERMISSION from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my gosh -- I don't even know where to start today - there are so many things to share!!!

Let's start with the blue string quilt on the wall. Here's a picture in case you don't remember. I'm showing you the quilt on my portable design wall for a reason - just wait for it.

The blue string quilt on the portable design wall

So - there's one block that is going in the opposite direction. I was going to change it, and then a blog reader suggested that I leave it for the humility block in ...

Positively Pineapple quilts from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Let's start with some follow-up. You are all the best out there. I've got suggestions for acquiring book series to read and "approval" to keep the mistake in the blue string quilt! And I'm now the proud owner of the instructions for the Pineapple Rule. Remember that??

Pineapple Rule

Thanks to Jane for that. I should have contacted her first. For whatever reason, and we won't go there, but Jane seems to acquired EVERY ruler that was ever made. At a guild garage sale a few years back, I remember that she sold a few of ...

Before and After from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

OH MY GOD!!!!!   I have to laugh because some of you and maybe more than I know are busy cleaning up their sewing rooms or certain areas of your house.

I got two pictures yesterday that put a HUGE smile on my face. A brave reader shared her before and after of the coffee table at her house. Are you ready???

The BEFORE

The AFTER

Apparently, there was a Christmas table runner beneath all that stuff, and it got swapped out for a new one. But isn't it amazing how much stuff accumulates, and we don't really see ...

A correction or two from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Well, it seems that I goofed. I put the wrong link for QUILTsocial yesterday. Thanks to Gwen for alerting me to that. I did fix it and hopefully got the right link in there. I'm going to list all the links for last week later today. That will solve all problems.

Thanks to Carmen, we now know with 100% certainty what that "container" building is. The structure is the sales center for the Mattamy Homes development on Ninth Line.  It was designed by a famous Architect Frank Gehry.   The development is called The Nine.

The sales center is made ...

I have the BEST friends from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

In case you don't know, I've been hosting Monday sewing for MANY years. It's probably something like 16 or 17 years. I'm the longest standing member, and Diane isn't far behind me. We've seen people come and go for lots of reasons. We almost had a coup d'etat, we've had deaths, births - actually, I think that's more grandchildren - I don't think anyone in our group has actually had a baby. We moved locations once and had to move on-line last year. Even when I went to work full-time for a ...

Let's just do it! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

I'm fired up! I'm on a roll, and there's nothing that can stop me!!

I can't even keep up with posting the pictures, but I'll try.

Studio U looks amazing! But you have to wait until tomorrow for the pictures. While I was upstairs, I unearthed a couple more trouble spots, and so I dealt with those as well. Studio B is looking pretty good, as well. There's not much left. I know I keep saying that, but this time it's real.

Oh, there's loads more to do, but at least, hopefully ...

Turned around from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Have you noticed as you get older that your body reacts differently to different things? I used to have zero issues with scents. The strongest scents wouldn't faze me at all. Then I noticed that I cannot have my clothes washed in ANY kind of scented laundry detergent. Just can't hack it. So now we have two boxes of laundry detergent - the scented and the unscented. Once the scented is gone - there will be no more in our house. Why do they make this stuff so strong? I can be walking outside and smell when someone is drying ...

UFO Show and Tell from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Let's see how today goes. Will Google go down? That was kind of scary because a couple of huge companies out there run many of the services we use. When they go down- we're in trouble! Yesterday it was no YouTube, no Blogger, no Gmail, and no Google calendar. Thankfully, it didn't last long, and the issue was WORLDWIDE.

We have some great conversations on Monday sewing days. What would we do without those Zoom sessions? It's great to get input from everyone on those wild topics. And to find out some skeletons in people's ...

Sun on the new fallen snow from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was a beautiful morning to walk. The snow was heavy on the trees, and as I walked through the forest, it was silent! The snow deadened all the city sounds, and it was glorious!

As I was prepping to leave the house, I noticed the sun shining on the treetops, so I snapped a couple of pictures. I put my sunglasses on for the walk, only to find that it was a sliver of open sky that allowed the sun to peek through the clouds. It was a cloudy day, but that's OK. I had my rain boots ...

A happy day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

It was just a happy day yesterday in many ways. The weather was glorious - a short-sleeved T-shirt kind of day. Things got done that had been sitting for a while, and well - it was just a happy day!

A HUGE thanks to Maria, who found the panel that I was looking for. I must get that paid for today. I'll share the store with you tomorrow - after my purchase goes through!

Oh my - when I looked at my FitBit last night, it had been in overdrive all day. 14.99 km. How did that happen? I did go for ...

The mail room from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Another crazy day - two more presentations. I have a big day today with four! Everything is prepped, so it shouldn't be too big of a deal. But I'm looking forward to the weekend where I only have two short classes of my own.

But it's all in a day's work for freelancers! When you work for multiple bosses, you never know what to expect. I now have new quilts to make for the magazines (yeah!), so I've got to finalize patterns and source fabrics. That's a job for next week.

Here's a note ...

The home stretch from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Oh my - if you live near me, I hope you were out yesterday. The weather was GLORIOUS. It was 18 degrees and sunny. I went for a long, long walk. I hit the mall, the library, the grocery store, and the bank! Now I have no errands for today when it's also going to be a glorious day. Oh well, one doesn't need a destination to go for a walk.

Oh - and I saw a fellow quilter who lives not far from me. She was out for a walk with a friend, but I have to say that ...

Learning is so much fun! from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Another GREAT day - I hear rumors that our temporary pandemic closures might be lifted this weekend. That means we can get back to the gym next week - observing all safety protocols, of course! I can't wait except that I won't be around next week for the spin class. I'll be leaving for my sewing retreat with our small bubble of people. I can't wait!

Two more great presentations yesterday! It's so refreshing to actually do the presentation and not worry about the internet going down. And the fact that most of the presentations are totally ...

It was a good news, bad news kind of day from Crazy Quilter on a Bike!

Some days are only good news days, and some are only bad news days, and some have a wee bit of both mixed in.

Two things happened yesterday, and OK - so I'm a drama queen here. My radio station started to play Christmas music. Not the occasion song - oh no - it's Christmas music all day, every day from now until Christmas. I'm not against Christmas music. I like Christmas music, but it's November 3rd! I changed radio stations - I'm not ready for that.

They do this every year, so it's not a surprise; I ...
